A bespoke, double breasted traditionally tailored coat featuring a themed hand printed lining; ‘Splash Explosion’ print. Made with the ‘Morlyn Glas’ (Blue Lagoon ) fabric, from Melin Tregwynt’s ‘Ysbryd’ collection; a collection inspired by the colours and spirit of the Welsh landscape.

An exhibition to showcase the coats and the lining print designs will take place at Melin Tregwynt from the 23rd of August until the 1st of October.

Back in 2019 ‘Caru Canu’ was a series of animated Welsh nursery rhymes which launched on Cyw, S4C and YouTube. We were asked if we would allow them to use our textiles to create the wonderful backgrounds, illustrated below. 

The series proved very popular and now the songs have been combined with stories to create a new series – Caru Canu a Stori

Aelwen has been a member of staff at the Mill since 12th September 1994. She knows the business inside and out, and in her spare time she enjoys writing a poem or two.

All you need to do is click on the images below to download each sheep, either to colour online or to print out and colour at home. Once you’ve coloured in your favourite sheep you can keep, or cut them out and put them together to make your own flock.

This February, just a day before Storm Ciara landed we organised a local fashion photoshoot to involve students from the Cardiff Met School of Management and their Fashion Visualisation module.

We live on such a beautiful coastline, it’s always good to have the opportunity to get out and enjoy it; but it was a long day and very cold…

As part of the recent Cardiff Design Festival Smörgåsbord organised a pop up exhibition showcasing the brands (including Melin Tregwynt) that they’ve worked with over the last 11 years. These include nation brands to beer brands, broadcast to editorial design, destination campaigns to product development.

During the past four years Smörgåsbord have played a pivotal role in creating and developing the Cymru Wales nation brand.

An exhibition of costumes by Melody Sharples, Fashion and Contemporary Costume graduate, shown at Melin Tregwynt Woollen Mill.

Melin Tregwynt are keen to support the development of emerging designers, and last academic year we selected Melody to receive fabric sponsorship for her final degree collection.
