In 2019 we were asked by Paolo Carzana, an MA Fashion student at Central St Martins, if we would sponsor his Final Graduate Collection (showing at London Fashion Week in February 2020) by providing the fabric. We agreed to do this and he has produced an amazing collection.

The British Fashion Council are working in collaboration with Italy’s Camera Nazionale della Moda (CNMI) to grow British designers’ international footprint, and we were delighted that Paolo was also invited to show in Milan Fashion Week earlier this January.

Born in Wales and now based in London, Paulo made his debut in 2018, quickly establishing herself as an emerging star on the fashion scene.

Part of a new generation of fashion design graduates challenging the British fashion industry on issues of ethics and sustainability, the pieces presented were bold, extravagant and impeccably sustainable both from an environmental and ethical point of view.

For more information about him check out London Fashion Week and his Twitter page.

When I started to choose materials, I realised that they would have to be recycled, or helpful for the environment. I wanted the collection to look as if it had come out of the ground, but to save everyone on the land. It’s about working with nature, rather than against it.

The challenge is accessibility, how to make clothes that make people feel stronger and at the same time can be easily inhabited.
