MELIN TREGWYNT CHOSEN FOR STUDENT'S FINAL YEAR DESIGN

Celebrating everything Welsh, the 'Caerphilly Chair’, designed by Fraser Smith, is a contemporary impression of the classic Welsh stick chair, constructed from local timber from the Ruperra forest in Caerphilly, South Wales and upholstered in our Vintage Star Spice fabric.

A back cushion in the same material, offers versatility in terms of presentation and a further comfort option. The chair has many features embracing Welsh tradition, but exhibits a modern design to suit today’s market.

The chair has just been on display at New Designers in London and received a runners up award for The New Designers Sainsburys/ Argos Home award. It will also be on display at The Royal Welsh Show. In the next few weeks.

I have always been interested in design and creativity and have a passion to aspire to pursue a career in the design industry. In my final year at NTU, I developed 2 pieces of furniture, designed for the modern interior, but with strong Welsh heritage influences, identified from my background in North Wales.
