Gelli & Rhostir Coats
for Keila & Karla

Raglan style coats made from the ‘Gelli’ (Grove) & ‘Rhostir’ (Heathland) fabrics, from Melin Tregwynt’s ‘Ysbryd’ collection, inspired by the colours and spirit of the Welsh landscape.

Made specifically for Keila & Karla; women Catherine has been teaching and working with to make coats out of vintage ‘carthen’ blankets on the Blancot project at Oasis Cardiff, Centre for Asylum Seekers and Refugees.

Wales is Keila and Karla’s new adopted home and the gift of a coat is to represent a warm Welsh welcome and a bond to the Welsh landscape.

Cotiau Gelli & Rhostir

Cotiau steil ‘raglan’ a gwnaed o ddefnydd ‘Gelli’ & ‘Rhostir’ a ddaw o gasgliad ‘Ysbryd’ Melin Tregwynt; casgliad o wehyddion blanced sy’n dehongli lliwiau ag ysbryd tirlun Cymru.

Gwnaed y cotiau yma yn arbennig i Keila a Karla; menywod mae Catherine wedi bod yn addysgu a gweithio gydag wrth wneud cotiau allan o hen garthenni Cymraeg ar brosiect Blancot yn Oasis Caerdydd, Canolfan i Ffoaduriaid a Cheiswyr Lloches.

Cymru yw cartref newydd Keila a Karla ac mae rhodd y cotiau yma yn cyn-rychioli croeso cynnes Cymraeg ag ymrwymiad â thirlun Cymru.

The ‘Gelli’ lining print pattern features hand drawn illustrations of tree seed pods and the ‘Rhostir’ lining print is an interpretation of mounds of heather growing on Welsh heathland. Designed and made by Catherine (Teilwr Bach), using traditional tailoring techniques and screen printed by hand at The Printhaus.

These coats are part of a series of five, featuring original lining prints complimenting the theme of each fabric.

Ar brint leinin cot ‘Gelli’ gweler darluniadau llaw o godennau hadau coed ac mae patrwm print leinin cot ‘Rhostir’ yn creu argraff o siapau crugynnau grug yn tyfu’n wyllt. Cafwyd ei gynllunio a’i wneud gyda thechnegau teilwra traddodiadol gan Catherine (Teilwr Bach), a phrintiwyd y defnydd leinin â llaw yn The Printhaus.

Mae’r cotiau yma yn rhan o gyfres o bump chot, gyda phob un yn fflawntio leinin â phrint gwreiddiol a chysyniadol i gyd-fynd â thema pob defnydd.

An exhibition to showcase the coats and the lining print designs will take place at Melin Tregwynt from the 23rd of August until the 1st of October.

Please get in touch if you’d like to pre-order your bespoke ‘Gelli’ or ‘Rhostir’ Coat, with the limited edition printed lining. The coat will be made to your personal measurements and two fittings will need to be arranged.
