Melin Tregwynt at NSA Welsh Sheep 2025

We’ve had a wonderful quick trip to Brecon this week to join British Wool in The Wool Hub at the NSA Welsh Sheep 2025 event. Hosted at Tregoyd Farm, NSA Welsh Sheep 2025 brought together all sectors of the sheep industry to connect, socialise, and share the latest industry information and innovation.

New for 2025’s event, The Wool Hub showcased the versatility and sustainability of wool, featuring products and inspirational ideas from British Wool, and from artisan Welsh manufacturers. As a licensee of British Wool, Melin Tregwynt was invited to join The Wool Hub to present and celebrate our Limited-Edition Welsh Wool Collection.

We have had a fantastic response to our pilot Welsh Wool Collection since its launch in March this year and NSA Welsh Sheep 2025 was a great opportunity to share this directly with the farming community, connecting the start and end of the Welsh wool journey. We have loved to hear our followers’ comments and feedback on this new development through our social platforms, and enjoyed extending these conversations in person in The Wool Hub.

The revitalisation of the Welsh woollen industry is an engaging topic with increasing interest from all involved in the sector – from Welsh wool growers, to small-scale artisans and larger manufacturers like Melin Tregwynt, right through to the end customer. So as the Welsh woollen industry and weaving in Wales is the root of our business, we are so pleased to be part of this conversation.

Our Limited-Edition Welsh Wool Collection was joined in The Wool Hub by other fantastic examples of the versatility of Welsh and British wool. Featured alongside Melin Tregwynt were:

Cambrian Wool – the forerunner in developing luxury Welsh wool yarn at a commercial scale for knitting, crochet and weaving.

Chilcott UK – a sustainability-focused company working in harmony with their Brecon Beacon setting, featuring blankets woven in 100% British Blue Faced Leicester yarn, so soft it gets mistaken for Cashmere.

The Woollen Cwtch Company – embracing the comfort and value British wool can provide at all times of life, through their beautifully made wool funerary items

Dinefwr Blankets celebrating their Welsh family heritage and traditional Welsh craftsmanship in their Caernarfon and Penmachno blanket designs, woven in undyed British wool.

Brecknock Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers – keeping these traditional cottage-crafts alive through sharing their passion for processing wool by hand.

To top it off, The Wool Hub hosted by British Wool won First Prize for NSA Welsh Sheep 2025 Best Indoor Trade Stand.

Our Limited-Edition Welsh Wool Collection is available as blankets and cushions, celebrating three Melin Tregwynt designs in colourways inspired by our beautiful historic Welsh landscapes. All woven in wonderful 100% Welsh Wool and, as ever, woven in Wales. As the collection is limited-edition, uniquely created for the pilot project, items are only available while stock lasts. Each blanket or cushion from the collection is a little piece of history - part of the long journey back towards a steady supply of certifiable Welsh wool.
