This week we'ere meeting Eiry Collins…

She joined us in 2022 and works in the mill cafe, serving food, taking payments and making coffee. She's very good with our customers and is a great addition to the team.

Over the last  2 years, in collaboration with British Wool and Mentor Mon, we've been involved in a community driven project with the aim of developing a 100% Welsh and fully traceable weaving yarn.

Key industry figures gathered at the National Wool Museum on 16th October for the unveiling of the new Welsh Wool logo and the launch of an exciting new yarn project showcasing the best in Welsh Wool.

This week we chat to Dianne Hand…a key menber of our finance department who thinks doing the accounts is fun!!!

She joined us in 2019 and was one of the small team that worked through lockdown as our online sales rocketed. We couldn’t have done it without her…

we get some great press coverage for our work at the Brecon Hotel

Our Forest Winter blankets were chosen for the bedrooms, and blend easy, pared-back comfort, with an earthy palette and tactile finish that harmonise perfectly with the breathtaking mountain views.

Since its opening the Brecon has been featured online and in design-led lifestyle magazines and Melin Tregwynt has also had its own feature on the Aficianados website. The Makers is a hot-list collection for those that share their artisanal passion for handmade and crafted creativity.

Terry joined us in 2023. He's the mill manager (a very important role) planning and overseeing the warping, weaving and production of our woollen fabrics here at the mill

the newest and by far the cutest member of the Aber Instruments family!

This magnificent dragon has been meticulously handcrafted by our brilliant Elsa, using the Aber Instruments special design woven to celebrate their 35 years of biotech and brewing innovation.

Elsa been with us since 2020 and designs and makes teddies, bunnies and hearts (and the occasional dragon) from our fabrics; and she's very good at it.

Jamie joined us in 2009, initially working in the cafe for 6 years and then moving on to despatch, packing all the online, mail order, millshop and trade orders. 

One of his favourite moments was meeting King Charles, back in 2012 when he was Prince of Wales and visiting the mill. 

One of our newer recruits Lydia's worked here since 2021, warping, tying in and weaving.

She loves seeing the designs through from start to finish. Watching the cones go up on the stand and seeing how the colours come together in the warp and change whilst being woven on the looms.

The Campaign For Wool aims to educate as many people as possible about the incredible benefits and versatility of wool in fashion, furnishings and everyday life.

We got a mention on their Facebook page for our sponsorship of Alec Bizby, a Welsh menswear designer who graduated in 2022 from the fashion MA programme at Central Saint Martins.
