Surface Pattern & Print Exhibition
4 April, 2018
Pop-up exhibition held from 26th March - 20th April 2018
BIOGRAPHY/EXHIBITORS STATEMENT:
The work exhibited had been produced by students who were currently studying in year 2 of their Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fashion and Textiles at Pembrokeshire College.
The students visited the mill and spent a day drawing and photographing many aspects of the mill and surrounding area. Amanda also introduced them to the many processes of production involved, along with an insight into the development of the business. They were then given a specific brief to follow.
Back in the workshops at Pembrokeshire College, print techniques such as block and screen printing were explored. Shapes and marks were developed from drawings and photographs taken on site and translated into repeated patterning.
Colours were selected to complement the Melin Tregwynt fabrics that each student had selected to incorporate into their design. Through a series of experimental processes, the student’s final patterns were hand screen printed onto fabrics and both printed and woven fabrics incorporated into a garment of their own design.
Exhibitors are:
RHIAN CLUTTERBUCK, LYDIA DUNN, SHANNON GRIFFITHS, BRYONY GUYMER, JORDAN HOOPER, GABRIELLA MORGAN, STEPHEN NEVILL, HANNAH VAN ASSCHE
