Sarah Hellen and Heather Birnie from Jwrnal Wales came to see us at the mill earlier this year.
Sarah’s background is in Fashion Design, specifically menswear. During her MA she researched into the history of traditional crafts and textiles in Wales and this was the beginning of Jwrnal, as she discovered the makers and creatives in Wales and just wanted to shout about it. See more of her work here.
Jwrnal ('journal') is a platform for promoting Makers and Creatives in Wales. It features many traditional rural crafts including; pottery, weaving, chair making, textile art, wood work and more. It's currently online only, but the printed version will be launched at the Good Life Experience in September.
Heather is a portrait and lifestyle photographer who lives on a farm in West Wales. Her day to day life is spent working from home, running, swimming or mountain biking. If she's plastered in mud by the end of the day, it’s been a good one. She's currently working with Jwrnal Wales, documenting and supporting makers and creatives in Wales.
Heather is available for commissions across the UK and internationally and you can see more of her work at heatherbirnie.com
